Human Services Commitee

The Human Services Committee is a standing committee of the Brown County Board of Supervisors.  Membership of this committee is five County Board Supervisors who are assigned to serve on this committee.  The Human Services Committee shall have the duty and responsibility to:
  • Act as the policy oversight committee for the Health & Human Services Department
  • Act as the policy oversight committee for the Human Services Board Services Board
  • Approve or deny all requests for budget transfers in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes, and transfers from the Contingency Fund when these transfers affect the policy oversight areas of this committee
  • Review the annual executive budget with regard to the areas of policy oversight assigned to this committee and makes recommendations to the County Board at the annual meeting for the Board's consideration and adoption. 
The Human Services Committee meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.  Agendas and Minutes for the committee are available.


Human Services Board

The Human Services Board is required by Wisconsin State Statutes, with County Board Supervisors and citizens serving on this advisory board.   The Human Services Board is made up of nine individuals serving three year terms.  The Human Services Board has the following powers and duties:
  •  Appoint committees consisting of residents of the county to advise the county Human Services Board as it deems necessary
  •  Recommend program priorities and policies, identify unmet service needs and prepare short-term and long-term plans and budgets for meeting such priorities and needs
  • Prepare, with the assistance of the county human services director a proposed budget for submission to the County Executive 
  • Advise the county human services director regarding purchasing and providing services and the selection of purchase of service vendors, and make recommendations to the County Executive regarding modifications in such purchasing, providing and selection
  • Develop county Human Services Board operating procedures
  • Comply with state requirements
  •  Assist in arranging cooperative working agreements with persons providing health, education, vocational or welfare services related to services provided under this section
